2009

This hopefully will be a great year, I moved into a new apartment the first week of January and now have the fun (work) of unpacking and finding a new storage place for my things.

Some have been in storage for several years while the gypsy in me moved several times. I now have found a place I like, nice and large and for the same rent as I was paying for a much smaller place. Lots of closets for organizing things that need storing, a room to devote to my sewing, a bedroom for me and 2 bedrooms for guests. All room are nice large ones giving ample roomm for furniture.

Today is the 21st and I'd say I have about 1/3rd of the unpacking done, maybe I'm stretching that a little to feel I've accomplished more. LOL When you move and have people help you pack you get things packed that should have been trashed. So now not only am I unpacking and putting things away, I'm finding the things that should have been trashed and trashing them along will culling out my huge wardrobe much of which I will never wear again. I'm also culling out some things I have (like neat organizers for cabinets) that won't work here or that don't work as well as advertised. And, I'm not saving packing boxes and I really do not intend to move again. I've learned in the past to never say NEVER but I really hope and plan this move to be my last that I make.

My stash of fabric is growing thanks to all the neat places to shop online and on Ebay. I have either here or on order the fabric, patterns, etc for the 25 quilts I want to make for family. And surfing this past weekend (one day) when I took a break from moving boxes and unpacking I found several more I want to make.

Have one quilt top togeter, have the border pieced and now have to attach it, then decide what fabric I'm going to use to back it and either quilt it or get it quilted. It was a combination of pillow squares (4 were rectangle) of photos of animals, birds and/or fish. I gave it to my Ex for Christmas with a promise to finish it soon. Next I will work on the quilts for my 4 children and give them to them this Christmas. When I finish those I will start on the 11 for grandchildren, and when those are finished the will be given (to all at the same time) the next Christmas. Then I start the ones for Great Grandchildren of which I need to make 7 but then that list is still growing. Somewhere in the mix hope to make a couple for myself and I'm making at least one top for the Heros Quilt project. http://www.homeofthebravequilts.org/index.htm
http://www.homeofthebravequilts.com/ I'm going to try to find a soldier that was from the part of Texas where I grew up and donate to his family. I think this is a great project. The pattern is simple and should go together rather quickly.
