Where does the time go?? I'm still trying to organize my BOM kits, UFOs and embroidery projects and my fabric stash. In a house with only a closet in each bedroom makes organization resourceful to say the least.

My daughter gave me a nice wooden shoe rack that will hold 15 pairs of shoes for Mother's Day. I have it together and it will make a perfect place (got the idea from a quilting friend) for my fat quarters - but think I may need 1 maybe 2 more.

I've pretty much taken over the storage area of the spare bedroom for my fabrics. My BOM kits, UFOs and Embroidery pojects are in (or going in) large plastic containers by my sewing chair in a corner of my bedroom. I have my sewing machine in the Family room - but don't like the clutter that generates around it - so that is being moved into my bedroom also. Don't like sewing on carpet but will have to try not to drop pins and needles.

Once all the storage and rearranging is finished I can get busy sewing.

Vintage Valentine Quilt

I've done a few BOM (Block of the Month) quilts where you order kits with fabric and pattern, for a block each month for the number of blocks to the quilt. In those I've gotten they included the fabric needed (depending on that particular quilts assembly) to finish the top. The cost of these were either included and spread throughout the months or were handled as a seperate BOM Finishing kit.

When I started this BOM I had several shops to select from and liked the border on this one - think it makes the quilt pop, so chose it. When I visited the shop the lady went to lengthly detail telling how to get the flowers in the border to flow at the corners and not look pieced. Why would she go into such detail if the border fabric wasn't included - No I didn't ask specificly, because she was also explaining the blocks and the fabrics and construction.

NOW I have all the block all 13 of them, large center block and the 12 blocks that surround it. I have about 6 all stitched and learn the border fabric is not included and IS NO LONGER available - I was livid and sick. Had I known it wasn't available I might not have bought the blocks, or if was available when I started I'd have purchased it then.

I now have to either find something else to use - not a good choice to me or dispose of what I have and start over with another quilt for this granddaughter - also not a good choice.

So will put away and see what happens over the next several months. I've searched the Internet and found a couple of fabric that might work, but not all that happy with them at this point - 2 months down the road they may look different to me.
